Searching….

November 22, 2005

Here’s something funny that I have been compiling for a while. I have this thing on my blog called site meter. It tells me how many people visit, how they linked to the page, etc. The most fun part about it is that you can see when people hit the site as the result of a search. Here is a list of searches that people accessed my site with. (my favorite is the second one)

big baby pics
toasts involving surfing
rehearsal dinner toasts
cute kid pics

Leaving Home

November 18, 2005

This morning I moved the first round of things out of the house at Canterbury Road. Although I knew this day was coming, I am not sure I am ready for it to be now. Over the past 15 years (wow, time flies) Clemson really has become home to me, and I am sad to be leaving it. So much of who I am has been shaped by my experiences there, so many of the friends in my life were made there, so much of my relationship with God was grown there. I am excited about what the future holds and the opportunity to grow and be stretched in my life and relationship with God, but for today I am sad.

Sigh

November 17, 2005

I am emotionally exhausted. This week has been one of several deep personal conversations; one was a very honest look at the dynamics of a relationship, one was a very difficult confrontation, and one was a sort of goodbye. Even though all of them had fairly positive outcomes, they were still very draining. I am very thankful for friends with whom I can have this kind of open, honest conversation with. I pray that we will always “spur one another on toward love and good deeds.” But no more for this week, thank you.

Buying and Selling

November 3, 2005

Monday I put a contract on a building in Columbia. Thats right. I said “building,” not “house.” I had been looking for a house in the downtown area for several weeks and nothing had really caught my interest. One day while driving around I noticed that the building was for sale and appeared to have a living space on the second floor. I have always wanted to live in a “loft” type apartment so I called about it. The building needs a decent amount of work, but does not appear to have any major problems. The upstairs is a 2 bedroom/1 bath apartment, and the downstairs is just a few offices and other rooms. Depending on how much I wanted to spend on updating it, the place has the potential to be very cool. There is still a lot that has to happen before I will make a final decision, so it is definitely not a sure thing at this point. However, the possibility is exciting…I will keep you updated. I cant seem to post a pic right now, so you can see it here.

On a related note….looks like my roommates will be buying my house next Tuesday. I unexpectedly got a little sentimental about it the other night, since it is my first house and I designed and built it myself. After living in it for a year, I can honestly say there is very little that I would change. I love the house, and it fits my lifestyle perfectly! It has been such a blessing to me and many others, and I am very thankful to have had it. I hope that it will be the same for Justin and Sandy….

Homecoming

November 1, 2005

In honor of Clemson’s homecoming this weekend and the week-long construction of the homecoming floats, I have reposted these. Enjoy!
