For the record, the Atlanta Airport Westin has redeemed itself for Wed night’s screw up. Without any complaining or trying to take advantage of the situation from Dustin and I, (shocking, I know) they have gone out of their way to express their apologies for messing up our reservation. They put us up in a great newly renovated room and even sent up some drinks and snacks with a handwritten note last night. In fact, the name “Mr Willis” seems to go pretty far around here towards getting anything that we need. Funny stuff. I feel like I am on the show Entourage.

Customer Service?
February 28, 2008So….30 minutes after Dustin and I got to Atlanta (at 1:30 am) tired and ready to collapse into our beds in the very nice Airport Westin…. we finally walked into our (freezing cold) room at the no-so-nice Days Inn across the street.
Thank you Westin Hotels, for overbooking your hotel, (that is hosting the conference we are attending) not honoring a 3-month old reservation, and “taking care of us” by putting us up in the hotel that is apparently preferred by clientele such as the “escort” that we saw leaving when we checked in.

Road Trip
February 28, 2008Its been an adventurous past 2 days; did an inspection in the rain, got a flat tire on the Midtown trailer on the way to Anderson, ate at Macs with my brother and JT, setup the sound system at Henderson, ate bird dogs, hung out at New Spring with some old friends, and talked with a bunch of Anderson University students about church planting. And to wrap it all up, Dustin and I are driving to Atlanta tonight to spend a few days with some other church planters from around the country.
Love it. Wish every week was like this. (well, except for the flat tire part)
PS – Today’s college students who love Jesus are going to change the world!!!

Good Morning?
February 26, 2008For some reason I woke up this morning feeling anxious and as if I hadn’t slept well. Not sure what all that is about, but now I feel like crud. However, I just got to hang out with my good friend Michael and hear about his recent trip to Mali, Africa so things are getting better fast.
PS – Have I ever mentioned that I like rainy days?

Inspections
February 26, 2008Going through people’s homes from top to bottom every day for a living, I see some pretty strange things. Some are related to the actual issues that it is my job to find, and others are not. Of the former, sometimes I find a really unusual problem in a house or maybe a crazy homemade “repair” job. But the latter category is usually much more entertaining. I am constantly reminded (in often humorous ways) about how God makes us so diverse. So from now on whenever I run across one of those things that makes me laugh, I am going to pass it on to you. Here is the first one….

New Look and Location
February 22, 2008Technical “Support”: Technical support, how may I help you?
Me: I am having some trouble with my site. It is not loading properly for me and several other people, and the admin section is periodically not working either.
Technical “Support”: Hold on, let me take a look at it. (long pause) I’m sorry, Mr. Cunningham. It seems to be working fine on our end.
Me: Well, the site has been acting up for several months now. This is the 4th time I have called, and it always seems to be working fine on your end. Do you have any idea what could cause things not to work properly for other users?
Technical “Support”: No, like I said it seems to be working fine on our end.
Me: (getting very annoyed) Well, isn’t that the point of hosting websites, that the sites are available to the rest of the world and not just your company?
Technical “Support”: I understand your frustration, I just don’t know what to tell you. Your site is working fine on my computer.
Me: Well, I hope that my blog is entertaining and informative for your company, since they are the only people who can see it….

….. and now you know why my blog has a new look all of a sudden! Technology is great when it is working, but really sucks when it is not. So…I have temporarily moved my blog to another host. (which was a pain to do) It doesn’t give me much flexibility as far as the design and navigation, but at least it works. Now off to the things I was actually planning on doing today……
