If you have not already, please take a look at this short video I put together. It does the best job of telling the whole story of my move to Brazil!
Below is some general information about my move and answers to some of the questions I am frequently asked.
Where are you going?
I will be moving to Belo Horizonte, which is the 3rd largest metropolitan area in Brazil. It is located in a mountainous area of Brazil, with terrain similar to that of Asheville, NC, and is home to 5.4 million people.
What organization are you going with?
I am going with Campus Outreach, a campus ministry started in Birmingham, AL that is similar to Campus Crusade for Christ.
What are you going to be doing there?
In short, I will be doing many of the same things I have been doing for the past 15 years; both working with a campus ministry and new church. Specifically, I will be helping equip some of the new Brazilian believers to grow into and eventually assume the leadership of the ministry.
How are you funded?
Campus Outreach staff raise their own personal financial support.
How do you feel about raising financial support?
Believe it or not, I actually enjoy talking to people about it. One of my prayers as I move to Brazil is that God would use my experience to encourage and draw people closer to Himself here in the US. In the past I have been able to join in some exciting things that God was doing all over the world by giving to various churches and ministries, and I look forward to being able to give others an opportunity to do the same.
When are you leaving?
As soon as my financial goal is met. My desire is to be in Brazil by the end of 2012.
How long will you be there?
At this point I do not feel like this is a lifelong move. I am going to help with some very specific goals as mentioned above, and once those are accomplished I will see what the Lord has in store next.
