Here is the Thriller video from the Midtown Volunteer Appreciation Night, as promised!
If you have never seen the full-length original by Michael Jackson, you should absolutely check it out. (it is slightly better than the one above)

…of the entire Apple product line is the crappy little earphones that come with all of their iPod and iPhone products. I am not really sure why Apple goes to all the trouble to come up with the best personal entertainment devices in the world then packages them with earphones that have the sound quality of AM radio, but they do.
For a while now I have been searching for a decent sounding set of earbuds that are not outrageously expensive, and I finally found them. The pic (and link) is the ones for the iPhone that have the hands-free mic and a button to answer calls, pause music, or skip to the next track. Best $40 I have spent in a LONG time. They also have ones for regular iPods for $10 less, so get yourself a pair and enjoy some of that great sound that has been locked up inside your iPod with no way out since you bought it!
I’m not sure if you noticed or not, but my posting has been sparse the past few days. The New York trip was awesome, but I have been swamped since I got back. I have a few things in my head I want to write about, but just haven’t had the time to do it. There is no end in sight till around Friday of next week, so I doubt I will be writing anything much the next few days…
One cool thing happened yesterday – found out that this was playing in Charlotte and even stumbled across some tickets. I am headed up there tonight with a friend to see it. Pretty excited, since it is my favorite Broadway show and I did not get to see it last week.
I love walking while listening to my ipod. It’s like being in that “musical montage” scene in a movie. I don’t really walk for exercise or anything, but occasionally I will have to walk somewhere downtown and it is always better with my “soundtrack” playing. I personally like the random mix the best… it is funny how much the music colors the things you see as you are walking, depending on the song. So pick a nice spring day sometime soon and go walking with your ipod, mp3 player, whatever. Especially if you have never done it before.
I skipped the Baumer show tonight to watch the Tigers play in the NCAA basketball tournament. Bad decision. So I came up with this list.
Why Music is Better Than Sports:
Ok… so I guess nobody really wants to talk about the issues that singles deal with. Guess I will just have a conversation with myself. I will post some of my thoughts later, but for now I wanted to share this song that I ran across today. I’ve been under a lot of stress recently and this did my heart good. Its pretty long, but make sure you watch at least the first 5 mins or so. I love the words (and the reaction of the girl) in the verse at about 4:00.
Ok – I know I have raved about Mutemath before, but now in addition to the best live show around they have one of the coolest videos I have ever seen. It is pretty amazing, although Im not sure how they actually did it….
Went down to Speakeasy tonight to hear some sweet big band jazz. It was awesome!! They even played some Christmas tunes! There are not too many places you can go hear a big band on a regular basis, so it is just cool to hear that kind of thing live.
Got a new favorite CD – Family Force 5. Kind of like Linkin Park with a 70’s funk influence. Check them out, especially the Luv Addict track.
Got to hear some great music so far this weekend. Last night I went to see Eddie From Ohio at the Handlebar with Rachel and Matt. They are one of those groups that is definitely best when seen live, and last night was no exception. Killer harmonies, amazing percussion, and a fun show. Never a disappointment. Tonight back in Columbia, I went down to Jammin Java to hear Micah Dalton. (with a full band) Micah is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, and his music reflects that. It is easy to listen to, and the band was perfect in the small coffeehouse.
The openers this weekend were really great, which was nice for a change. Rachael Davis walked out on the stage last night at The Handlebar with just a banjo and blew the walls out of the place. (the myspace songs dont do her justice at all) Tonight, Tyler James (who looks like he’s 15 yrs old) opened up and was great. Tyler is so chill that when his keyboard quit working and he had to play his backup, (a plain old Casio like the ones at Wal Mart) he just took it in stride and it didnt take away from the music at all!
